As of September 1, 2013, Langara College is no longer operating under the Interim Post-Secondary Educational Institution Tariff with Access Copyright, the Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency.
Termination of this agreement was precipitated by Access Copyright’s changing business model and the expanded definition of Fair Dealing and Educational Exceptions cited in the newly-enacted Copyright Modernization Act. Langara’s Copyright website (www.langara.bc.ca/copyright) has a detailed overview of these changes.
Langara is committed to balancing its interests as a place of learning with those of content creators and publishers. It is important that members of the college community adhere to the requirements of Canadian copyright legislation when using copyrighted works, both in print and online.
