As of October, 2022, machine captions in English are automatically ordered for all media uploaded to Langara Mediaspace. Adding captions to videos makes them more accessible to various groups, including deaf/Deaf/hard-of-hearing people, people with sensory processing disorders, and people for whom English is a second language, among others.
This applies only to new uploads as of October 18th, 2022. Captions will not be automatically added to older entries.
Machine captions are only 85% accurate, so if you need more accurate captions, editing may be required. See the link below for more information.
