B.C. better with post-secondary education investment
By Scott McAlpine, Special to The Vancouver Sun, February 26, 2013
Scott McAlpine, President of Douglas College comments on British Columbia’s post-secondary education …
- best in the world because it is indeed a system
- the starting point on your educational journey is not likely to be your end point
- education is more than just getting a job – both to the individual and to society as a whole
- educational credentials are everything that is needed to power a modern society: representing trades and technical skills, science, medicine, the arts, humanities
- a better educated society is a wealthier, but also a kinder, more moderate and more just society
