Book Club: The Sasquatch at Home (in-person)

May 27 @ 1:00 PM - 2:15 PM PDT

Please join us at our in-person book club on 3 Monday afternoons (May 27, June 10th, June 24th from 1:00 to 2:15) to discuss Eden Robinson’s The Sasquatch at Home: Traditional Protocols and Modern Storytelling, a publication of Robinson’s 2010 Henry Kreisel Lecture. An extended autobiographical essay with Robinson’s signature blend of humour and social insight, the book sheds light on Robinson’s literature, as well as Indigenous intellectual history, practices, and policies. The book club is organized by TCDC and will be cofacilitated by Kathleen Oliver (Chair of the English Department) and Tiffany Johnstone (Instructor in the English Department). We are non-Indigenous, white literature instructors with an interest in Indigenous literature and Indigenous rights and who teach and have great respect for the work of Eden Robinson. We are also grateful to cofacilitate at least one session with Earl Einarson, Indigenization Specialist at TCDC.

TCDC in partnership with Indigenous Education and Services will be hosting Eden Robinson as guest speaker of the Indigenous Speaker Series in June.

This book will be available to borrow at the TCDC library on the second floor of the C-building. In the meantime, it is also available online via the Langara Library and you may want to purchase it from a nearby bookstore such as Massy Books (Indigenous owned), Iron Dog Books (Indigenous owned), Book Warehouse, or Carson Books and Records.
