Teaching in the Age of AI: A Primer for Instructors

Get started with generative AI learning the basics of how large language models like ChatGPT, GPT-4 and BingAI work and some of the ways in which they can enhance assignments and assessments.

Through interactive discussions and practical examples, we will address:

  • How these AI language tools create text and answer questions.
  • How to talk to your students and co-create policies on AI use in the classroom.
  • Understanding what ChatGPT and similar tools can and can’t do, and some of the ethical considerations you should be aware of.
  • Ideas for redesigning assessments and bringing in gen AI for learning activities.

By the end, you’ll feel more comfortable and ready to use AI in your classes, and you’ll know how to deal with its challenges too.
