Go2K: Hybrid Instruction: How to Redesign Your Course to Maximize Benefits

November 2, 2023 @ 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM PDT

Hybrid (or blended) education evolved as a natural by-product of the rise in online education. Recognizing that face-to-face and online education both offer unique learning advantages, hybrid instruction bridges the gap by incorporating both approaches to utilize the instructional mode that is best suited to the learning objectives or activities of a particular topic. For faculty, transitioning from a face-to-face course requires not only a shift in pedagogy, but a change in the philosophical paradigm underlying teaching and learning.

In this webinar we will explore the paradigm shift necessary to develop an effective hybrid course, overview a decision-making process for redesigning your course into a hybrid format and examine best practices in hybrid instruction. Particular emphasis will be placed on helping faculty rethink and redesign the learning experience to maximize the benefits available via a hybrid format.

Objectives

  • Understand the distinction between an instructional paradigm and a learning paradigm
  • Apply decision-making processes to instructional activities and objectives to determine the best mode of delivery
  • Redesign course activities to maximize the benefit available via hybrid instruction
  • Explore technologies for supporting a hybrid learning environment
  • Analyze the value and applicability of integrating various aspects of online course delivery to their face-to-face course Source: Go2Knowledge
