Ecologizing Education

This session was previously offered as part of the Mini-Conference 2023. As many expressed that they missed the opportunity to attend, TCDC reached out to the presenters and helped organize an encore. TCDC is grateful to the presenters for agreeing to deliver the session again to reach more of the Langara community.

Many Langara instructors are concerned about the gravity of climate change and ecological degradation. How do we make our courses more environmentally attuned? How do we prepare students for an ecologically uncertain future? How do we balance hope with dismal realities? In this workshop, Estella Kuchta, co-author of the forthcoming book Ecologizing Education (Cornell UP), illustrates how values of relationality, care, diversity, equality, joy, and embodied learning can meaningfully address these questions.
