Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW)

The Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) is a 3-day in-person workshop guided by experienced facilitators to help you enhance and improve your teaching. On each day of the ISW, every participant delivers a 'mini-lesson' to a small group and receives written and oral feedback from other participants who are learners of the lesson.

In addition to giving you the opportunity to teach more interactive and interesting classes, at the end of the ISW, you will:

• increase your competence and confidence in the classroom,
• expand your teaching techniques and strategies,
• enhance your feedback and evaluative skills, and
• receive a certificate recognized across North America.

Please note the following:

• You must have a 10-minute mini-lesson prepared for day 1 of the ISW (resources will be sent to you in advance). You will teach a total of three mini-lessons during the ISW. 
• Upon receipt of a tentative registration confirmation message from TCDC, you must ask your chair/manager/supervisor to send an email to tcdc@langara.ca with confirmation of department approval AND your department budget code.  
• The ISW is offered to Langara instructors at no charge; however, departments will be charged $150 for late cancellations (less than 14 days’ notice), no-show participants, and incomplete participation of the ISW.
