ARC Webinar: Want to do research but don't know where to start? A guide for getting your project off the ground

Event Chair: Applied Research Centre

Led by ARC Coordinators, Jenny Francis and Nathan Jones, along with guest presenters (TBA), these informative and interactive sessions are all you need to get started doing research at Langara. Meet the people who can help you, learn about funding and supports available, and connect with other researchers. The topics were developed in response to the results of the ARC 2021 Faculty and Instructor Research Inventory conducted in Jan-Feb 2021. For those unable to attend this spring, we hope to offer the sessions again in fall 2021. For more information, please contact Jenny Francis ( or Kelly Sveinson, ARC Chair (

This session starts at the beginning: you have an idea you would like to explore but how do you turn that idea into a funded research project? We will show you how to create a research question, select methods, form a research team (even a tiny one), apply for ethics approval (if needed), and get started with a research workplan.
