Study Circle – Pulling Together: Guide for Curriculum Developers

Event Chair: TCDC

DETAILS:

Join fellow snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ colleagues for a lunch time study circle to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Sept. 30 (and beyond).

In this bi-weekly series, co-facilitators Earl Einarson and Alex Samur will lead a discussion on Pulling Together: Guide for Curriculum Developers.

The series aims to bring Indigenous and non-Indigenous colleagues together to share and co-learn from the guide. Weekly topics focus on approaches to integrating Indigenous content, perspectives and educational perspectives in designing, developing, reviewing and adapting course curriculum.

Sessions will be online or in-person depending on participants' preference and will be held every other Thursday from Sept. 22 to Nov. 17, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. We strongly encourage participants to make time to attend every session in the series.

(Minimum of 7 participants required to hold study circles)

Weekly session dates and topics:

Week 1 (Sep 22) – Section 1: Understanding Indigenization

Week 2 (Oct 6) – Section 2: Meaningful Integration of Indigenous Epistemologies and Pedagogies

Week 3 (Oct 20) – Section 3: Engaging with Indigenous Communities

Week 4 (Nov 3) – Section 4: Incorporating Diverse Sources of Indigenous Knowledge

Week 5 (Nov 17) – Section 5: Developing Awareness of One's Own Role in Indigenization and Reconciliation and Section 6: Promoting Systemic Change
