Curriculum Consultant
As a Curriculum Consultant, Carmen supports departments and instructors with their curriculum development, renewal and assessment projects. She develops and facilitates workshops on a variety of topics such as course design (f2f, online and hybrid), assessment design, curriculum mapping, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and helping students become informed self-regulated learners. She is one of the creators of the Langara Student Success Course (LSSC) and the Langara Return to Learning Course (LRTL), and loves exploring and sharing the latest research on how people learn with both instructors and students.
Before becoming a curriculum consultant, Carmen taught English and education. Although she’s been teaching for over 20 years, Carmen still gets excited by the opportunities to learn, experiment and create that come with developing new learning experiences for diverse students. When she’s not working, you’ll find Carmen hiking, biking, kayaking or chilling at home listening to her new favourite podcast.
