The University of South Alabama needed an additional online student support resource for first-year student success. Using high-quality video workshops designed around key concepts like the writing process, growth mindset, time management, and study skills and note-taking, the university has been able to assist students by addressing areas where they may need foundational work for academic success. To address this need, the University of South Alabama uses online student-focused workshops as the critical piece of its first-year experience courses. Embedded into their Canvas FYE course templates, online workshops support students in their writing processes, in understanding how to succeed both in online and face-to-face learning environments, and with college success skills. Our presenter will share insights into how the University of South Alabama is creating consistent programming to provide online support for its diverse student body. In doing so, the institution is also addressing concerns about inequity in learning outcomes as a result of pandemic learning. Attendees will leave with a plan for how to address skill gaps with their own students using an asset-based perspective.  Source: https://www.go2knowledge.org/
