TCDC Spring Book Club – Unraveling Faculty Burnout: Pathways to Reckoning and Renewal

This Spring, the Teaching and Curriculum Development Centre (TCDC) will be hosting a book club on Unraveling Faculty Burnout: Pathways to Reckoning and Renewal by Rebecca Pope-Ruark, PhD. The book will provoke deep thinking on this relevant, timely topic.

Burnout is a syndrome that negatively impacts productivity and both mental and physical health. It should not be ignored or downplayed. Burnout has been a significant issue for post-secondary faculty, seemingly increasing its intensity and grip ever since the 2020 pandemic.

We invite you to take a pause and assess your relationship with work and the overwork culture. With Pope-Ruark’s compelling work fuelling our conversations, we will discover ways to cope with and mitigate burnout. The club will meet over Zoom Wednesdays, from 4:30 pm–5:30 pm, from March 15 to April 26, 2023.

Registration is open until spots are filled. After that, there will be a waitlist. Register for the book club through the TCDC Events Calendar. We welcome all levels of engagement and participation. Hope to see you there!
