Instructor Testimonials

I’ve had a PSL facilitator join my classes in several semesters all of whom were fabulous. They attended all classes, scheduled frequent meetings with students, were very personable, approachable, and easily engaged with students. The PSL offers students an alternative way to approach and learn the course material which was a valuable resource in my course. The feedback from students was consistently positive; they appreciated the positive learning environment and the opportunity to meet and work with other students in the class. I welcome a PSL facilitator in any of my future classes! Josephine Pascuzzi, Economics Instructor

I have had the opportunity to take the advantage of having an online & in person PSL facilitator in my Accounting for Managers class for the past three semesters. The additional student support was very beneficial for the students, for myself , and for the overall learning experience. I would highly recommend participation in this program for both students and faculty. – Dan Relihan, MBA, CPA, CGA, Accounting Instructor

The Peer Supported Learning program has offered a wonderful opportunity for my students to receive: extra assistance in clarifying difficult concepts, review sessions before exams, and better performance on exams. As well, the PSL program has enabled my students to connect with other students who are like minded in their pursuit of interests and goals. – Noushine Afshar, Dept. Chair of Psychology

I have used PSL services in many of my introductory accounting classes with great success. Students often find it is easier for them to ask a question not only because there are two of us in the classroom but because one of us is also a student. Every time I have used PSL, my classroom experience is enhanced.
– Grant Mowbray, CPA, CA, Chair, Financial Management and Business Computer Applications Department, School of Management

Last semester, the class with the PSL facilitator had such a good vibe. Class attendance was strong throughout the semester. Students came to class enthused about the material. I often saw students gathered around the PSL facilitator in the hallways. It was obvious that he had great rapport with students and that the sessions increased students’ understanding of the course content. PSL is a wonderful support for students. I wish that facilitators were available for all of my classes. – Susan Sverdrup-Phillips, Sociology Instructor

The Peer Supported Learning (PSL) model worked extremely well for my first year MARKETING 1115 students and for me as an instructor. Our PSL Facilitator was extremely well qualified and well trained to support students both inside and outside of the classroom. He led by example in the classroom by attending all classes and taking detailed notes. He made special efforts to connect with our students in scheduled sessions outside of the classroom. It was extremely beneficial to have him in the classroom and actively working as a peer support for students. I believe that PSL had a very positive impact on the overall success of the term for a number of our first year students. – Kevin L. James, MBA, Marketing Instructor, Langara School of Management
