F.A.Q. for Facilitators

Is the PSL facilitator position volunteer or paid?

This is a paid position. PSL facilitators are compensated according to Langara’s CUPE Schedule of Wages Rates for Student Aides/SWAP.

The most recent CUPE Schedule of Wages provided by Langara HR as of April 2023 may be found on here (Page 5).

*Please note that this is subject to change to reflect minimum wage increases.

How many hours per week will I work?

Typically, PSL facilitators work around 8-10 hours per week. This may vary depending on the number of supported courses or if additional PSL sessions are held.

Can I choose when my sessions happen each week?

To best fit your own study schedule, PSL facilitators are able to set their own session times; however, we ask that sessions take place Monday through Friday only and not on the weekends. Typically, facilitators try to find a time that best works for them as well as for the students in the course.

I’m an international student. Can I still apply to be a PSL facilitator?

Please check the conditions of your study permit to see if you are eligible to work in Canada while studying.

If your study permit includes a condition that says you can work on or off campus, you meet all the other requirements of your study permit, and your study permit is valid for the duration of PSL training and the school semester, then please feel free to apply!
