To continue using Kaltura Capture after the Summer 2022 Kaltura migration, you’ll need to uninstall Kaltura Capture and reinstall it with the new version from Kaltura Cloud (don’t worry; all of your recorded files will remain on your hard drive).

You may also periodically want to update Kaltura Capture when new versions are available.

How to Reinstall Kaltura Capture (Windows)

Step-by-step Instructions for Installing Kaltura Capture on Windows

  1. In Windows, go to Control Panel; you can either choose this from your Start menu or search for it

  2. Click Programs and Features

  3. Click on Kaltura Capture, and then Uninstall; follow the prompts to uninstall the program

  4. Now, go to your My Media and click Add New > Kaltura Capture

  5. You’ll see a screen prompting you to choose a download link; choose the link for your operating system: Windows or Mac

  6. When the download completes, click on the downloaded file; follow the prompts to install Kaltura Capture

  7. When the installation is complete, return to My Media and choose Add New > Kaltura Capture; you may see a pop–up in your browser asking if you’d like to launch Kaltura Capture: Click Yes or OK to launch; the button might also say “Open Kaltura Capture”

  8. Next time, you can launch Capture from the Add New menu, or from your desktop

How to Reinstall Kaltura Capture (Mac)

Step-by-step Instructions for Installing Kaltura Capture on Mac

  1. In MacOS, Open Finder, then click on Applications

  2. Navigate down the list of applications to find Kaltura Capture
  3. Hold the keyboard Control Key, click on Kaltura Capture and choose “Move to Trash”

  4. Now, go to your My Media and click Add New > Kaltura Capture

  5. You’ll see a screen prompting you to choose a download link; choose the link to “Download for Mac”

  6. When the download completes, the installation will start; follow the prompts to install Kaltura Capture; click Open Link to continue with the installation on your Mac

  7. When prompted by the application to allow access to screen recording – choose Open System Preferences

  8. Click on the lock (bottom left of window) to allow you to Select Kaltura Capture to access your camera and microphone; you may be prompted for your computer (login) password to make this change; put a check mark in the Kaltura Capture item and click the gold lock to save this Security & Privacy change

  9. When the installation is complete, return to My Media and choose Add New > Kaltura Capture; you may see a pop–up in your browser asking if you’d like to launch Kaltura Capture: Click Yes or OK to launch
