Kaltura MediaSpace has now been upgraded to the newest version. With this upgrade, you will see accessibility improvements, a fresh new interface in some areas (more updates coming soon), and new tools and features to help you make your course video and audio with less effort and more engagement. Read on to learn about new features.
New Players
All of our media players have been updated to modern, V7 Kaltura players with cleaner interfaces and better overall accessibility, including transcripts and a search function. Most of your existing embeds (including any existing embeds in Brightspace) will be automatically redirected to show the new version of the player, so you won’t need to do anything new.
If, however, you have existing embeds with the old Audio Player, these won’t be redirected. These embeds will keep working for the foreseeable future, but if you’re updating your courses or other content in the future, please make sure to re-create those embeds to get the new Audio Player, which will be selected by default with any audio-only file. If you need any help with this, please contact EdTech at edtech@langara.ca.

Transcripts
All Kaltura players now have the ability to display a transcript alongside the video or audio.

These transcripts can also be downloaded, to increase accessibility across the board. (If you don’t want transcripts to appear on videos, you can hide them by disabling the captions on that video.)
Back to top of pageRecycle Bin
When you delete media from your Kaltura My Media account, it will now be held in the Recycle Bin for 30 days, instead of being immediately deleted. You can see the Recycle Bin, and restore items, from the user menu on the MediaSpace website, and from the three-dot menu in My Media in Brightspace.

Folders
Folders are now available in your My Media, both on the Langara MediaSpace website and in Brightspace via My Tools > My Media. Folders can help you organize your media by course, by subject, or any method that suits you. Folders created on the MediaSpace website will also appear in Brightspace, and vice versa.

Multiple File Upload
You can now upload multiple files to Kaltura at once, rather than one at a time.
Back to top of pageMedia Stitching
This update gives all users access to the Media Stitching tool, which allows you to combine multiple shorter videos into one longer one.
Back to top of pageMy Content Analytics
Previously, users were only able to see analytics on individual media entries. This update gives you access to User Analytics, which shows activity across all of the media in your library, regardless of where it’s being seen by your audience.
Back to top of pageKaltura Capture App
There’s a new version of the Kaltura Capture desktop app for Windows and MacOS. If you’re already a Kaltura Capture user, we recommend upgrading your version of Kaltura Capture to ensure continued functionality.
