#RDRinYVR: Dr. Robin DeRosa talks open education with Langara

On MarchRobin DeRosa at Langara 21st, Langara kicked off Open Education Week 2017 with a visit from renowned open education researcher and advocate Dr. Robin DeRosa.

Entitled Beyond OER: The Promises, Pitfalls, and Potential of Open Education, Robin’s keynote presentation focused on three key questions:

  1. How can we make college more affordable?
  2. How can we improve learning?
  3. How can we maximize the impact of our research?.

The live stream, generously provided by EdTech and IT, drew close to 40 online attendees from Canada, the United States, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

Robin inspired in-person and online audiences alike with her knowledge, humour, and contagious passion for open education –so much so that the event’s Twitter hashtag #RDRinYVR was soon trending in Vancouver.
