Important Announcement: Ezproxy Server Upgrade – D2L Pages May Need Editing

The Library recently upgraded its Ezproxy server. Ezproxy is the part of our system that allows students and employees to continue to access full-text, subscription databases even when they are away from campus.

One consequence of the upgrade is that we have changed the way Ezproxy is addressed in URLs. Many thousands of URLs that are under the Library’s control have already been updated, but there may be other links that are embedded in D2L or other web pages that are out of our control. We need your help to ensure that all links are corrected. While old format URLs are still working today, they will no longer work beginning in January 2014.

The difference between the old and new forms of URLs is that a port number should no longer be specified within the Ezproxy prefix portion of URLs.

The port number (2443) and its preceding colon should be removed from all URLs that include an Ezproxy prefix in your D2L and Departmental web pages.  Please note: The Destination portion of URLs should not be changed.

Example Old Format URL:

https://login.ezproxy.langara.bc.ca:2443/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/login.asp?profile=ehostadv&defaultdb=c8h

Example New Format URL:

https://login.ezproxy.langara.bc.ca/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/login.asp?profile=ehostadv&defaultdb=c8h
