If you don’t want to use the Brightspace annotation tools, you can choose to download Assignment folder submissions, mark or annotate them offline, and then bulk re-upload them, automatically attaching each feedback file to the correct folder. See below.

  1. In the list of submissions to the folder (in Assignments, click the dropdown menu next to the Assignment and select View Submissions), select all the students whose work you want to download and click Download.
A zip file will be generated for you to download, E.g., abc.zip.

  2. Once it’s been downloaded, extract the downloaded zip file (this will vary depending on your operating system (How to zip/unzip a file in Windows and how to zip/unzip a file in MacOS).
  3. This will create a new folder called “abc.”
  4. All files will have a number added to the beginning of their name. Do not remove or change this number, or change any file names. This is how Brightspace knows how to reattach your files to the correct folder later.
  5. Provide feedback to each file in each sub-folder and save it back to the same place.
  6. Once you’re done marking, open your “abc” folder and zip all of the sub-folders (How to zip/unzip a file in Windows and how to zip/unzip a file in MacOS).
  7. Return to the list of folder submissions.
  8. Click the Add Feedback Files button.
